Often you’ll meet brides at your store who absolutely love a particular dress but feel that there’s something missing or the dress requires a particular alteration. They might like a one shoulder strap or some color added to their dress. The best way to go about this is to be creative and to use your imagination. Try to show the bride how you can alter the dress to her wishes. Sometimes it helps to have an image so it’s easier for the bride to imagine the alteration once it is done. I recently created a styling book for brides for one of the stores that I work for. I asked the stylists and seamstresses to take pictures of alterations they were doing and to look for other great styling ideas and images online. It has become a very useful tool for the team to show brides ideas and alteration options. An image definitely makes it easier for the bride to imagine the way an alteration will look on her. Search, cut, paste and create a beautiful styling book for brides visiting your store. My Pinterest board styling & alterations might be helpful with lots of great styling ideas.
